About B. A. Steinhagen Lake
B. A. Steinhagen Lake, known locally as “Dam B”, is on the Neches River near Jasper, below the point where the Angelina River joins. Town Bluff Dam was completed in 1951 and is operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The lake sits downstream of Sam Rayburn Reservoir, so releases from Rayburn largely set its level.
